A New Idea: Charity-Ware / Cause-Ware:
An interesting thing about software and all electronic content from books to music, is that it is easy to deliver to customers. There has already been some development of the idea of "cause-ware" or "charity-ware" - where software is made available for free and users are encouraged to make donations to charity or do some good deed as a way to "pay it forward." The challenge for charity-ware is that end users need support and most programs need to be updated. Generous developers can make it work for a while, but it can become overwhelming.
